During the Battle of Kharkiv, extensive parts of residential areas were destroyed by Russian shelling. On 28 February, at around 10:00 AM, Russian forces fired cluster munitions with Grad rockets into at least three different residential areas in Kharkiv, killing at least nine civilians and injuring another 37. The city’s mayor, Ihor Terekhov, said that four people were killed when they left a shelter to get water, and a family of two parents and three children were burned alive in their car. The locations hit included residential buildings and a playground.
