Photo by Ivan Zakharenko | Bucha, a suburb of Kyiv. May 14, 2022 | Some residents who returned to Bucha found their loved ones killed by Russians.
Sixteen of the 20 bodies seen by reporters lay either on the pavement or in the grass lining the road; all 20 had been shot in the back of the head. Three were sprawled in the middle of the road, and another lay on his side in the courtyard of a destroyed house. An open Ukrainian passport lay on the ground next to a person whose hands were tied behind his back with a piece of white cloth. Two other people had a white cloth tied around their upper arms. The town had buried 280 people in mass graves as a result of the Russian invasion.
