The Russian bombardment of some places in Ukraine is so intense that towns and cities are being forced to unceremoniously bury dozens of civilian victims in mass graves. The number of bodies in Mariupol is overwhelming. Petro Andryushchenko, an adviser to the mayor, estimated that 22 thousand died in the two months of fighting; however, one person coordinating burials in the city who spoke on condition of anonymity said they believed the total was closer to 50 thousand.
