#29 The Last Goodbye

Photo by Leonid Logvinenko | Ozeryany village, near Kharkiv. April 20, 2022 | Above the grave of the soldier Ruslan Bely, his widow Nadezhda.

On 15 April, Kyiv’s regional police force reported that 900 civilian bodies had been found in the region following the Russian withdrawal, with more than 350 found in Bucha. According to the police, most—almost 95% of them—were “simply executed.” More bodies continued to be found in mass graves and under the rubble. Putin called the atrocities in Bucha “fake” and claimed they were staged by the West, despite overwhelming evidence that they were real.
